Welcome! 👋
Hey, I’m Yameen - a 14-year-old Innovator at The Knowledge Society (TKS), Editor at students x students, TEDx Speaker, podcast host, and STEAM Student at RHHS.
I’m extremely passionate about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Gene-Editing. I’m currently diving into Gene-Editing and exploring the major applications it could have in our everyday lives!
My mission in life is to make an impact on the lives of others. There are so many underrepresented in our country (and globally), and I believe it’s up to us to take advantage of our opportunities to create a better world for them!
But, you didn’t come here to learn about my life goals; you came to learn about my month.
So here you go!
August! 🌻
With the month of August wrapping up, I’m happy to say that it was a great month! Although I didn’t work as much during the last month of the Summer Break, I had fun… a lot of fun! I went on a two-week trip to Northern Ontario, finished my summer courses, and started preparing for the school year ahead.
We’ll have all that and more in this month’s episode of My Structurally Unstructured Life! Welcome to my August!
Revamped Newsletter?
If you’ve been around here for some time, you might be wondering why there are so many changes to the newsletter. New name, new heading, new tagline, etc. The reason is that I knew the newsletter had to change. Since last November, it has been the same bland thing over and over again: Yameen’s Monthly Newsletter. I mean, come on, what a boring title! 😴
Anyways, I wanted to start making changes to the newsletter so that I can move forward with building quality posts for you all. Over the next few months, I’ll be adding more discussion topics to the newsletters, figuring out new ways to engage with the readers (you!), and more.
If you have any suggestions or advice regarding what I can change, please let me know - I really appreciate all the tips and feedback!
So, I’m going to leave it at that.
Welcome to Yameen’s Monthly Newsletter reborn as My Structurally Unstructured Life! I’m so excited for what’s ahead! 🚀
Mindset of the Month. 🧠
“To be everywhere is to be nowhere.”
— Seneca, Letter II
🔑: Everyone tries to accomplish everything. But in reality, you will never be able to do so. However, when you show appreciation for your small victories, you show appreciation for yourself, too. Cherish the small things!
As students, we’re told to do everything. Literally. We need to excel in school, as well as outside of it. This idea is setting us up to become a jack of all trades but master of none. Instead, we should focus on being in one place at one time. Choose one or two activities outside of school, and excel. Work on the things that matter to you. That’s what creates beauty in our lives.
You can learn more about this mindset in my 8th mindset of the 52 / 52 article series.
A 16-Hour Roadtrip! 🚙
Earlier in the month, I went on a road trip to Northern Ontario. We went with some family friends and it was an amazing trip! We visited falls, mountains, canyons, and so much more. The trip was around a week-long (consisting of +32 hours of driving 💀), but it was a really good way to enjoy the last few weeks of the summer!
If you were wondering, we went to Sault Ste. Marie and Thunderbay.
Article Series! 📚
This month was very laid back for both my article series. I tried taking it slow this month so that I could enjoy the final month of the Summer Break. However, in September, if all goes well with school and the beginning of TKS Activate, I will be back on releasing weekly articles (hopefully for both series).
52 / 52
For the mindset series, I looked into some new avenues. That’s why for this month, I did it a little differently - instead of writing about a whole new mindset, I wrote about the applications of Stoicism (for students). It was a pretty short article though, and the reason why I kept it short was so that I could use the same book for future mindset articles as well (because “Letters From A Stoic” is an absolute gem!).
Reality Check
No new articles or podcast episodes were created for the Reality Check series, however, I am currently in the final draft process of an article for the series. Over this past month, I took some time to look into how I could make the podcast + article series more interesting for you all. That being said, one of the main options was to:
Feature students on the podcast + get their perspectives on global events
Over the next few days, I’ll be thinking of more ideas to increase engagement with the podcast, if you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know!
School + TKS Activate! 🤩
School
As summer comes to an end, the school year begins! I’m actually really excited for the beginning of the school year because I will be going in person for the first time in nearly two years! It’s crazy to reflect on how so much changed over these past few years, and it really makes me excited for what’s up ahead.
TKS Activate
In addition to school, TKS Activate will begin! I’m so pumped for a new year of adventures, lessons, and fun with TKS - it’s truly going to be an amazing year once again. I’ll keep you all updated on TKS and the progress I make!
Read of the Month. 📖
Seneca, widely regarded as one of the most famous philosophers of his time, gives ever-lasting knowledge and advice through this book. The book was actually created using the letters Seneca sent to his friend Lucilius advising him on how to become a better stoic.
I guarantee you’ll find something valuable on every page!
I know I previously recommended this book, however, I’m doing it again because of how valuable it will be to your life. If you are reading any book right now, put that down and give this one a chance. You will not regret it!
What’s next (goals for September)? ✨
With the TKS and school year beginning, I might take things slower in September to get used to the new schedules. However, that does not mean that I won’t be doing anything. In fact, I will be trying to accomplish some tasks that I’ve been neglecting over the past few months.
In the coming month, I’ll complete the following action items:
Continue with weekly articles, podcast episodes, etc.
This was neglected over the past month so this will be a priority
Publish an “Intro to Gene-Editing” article
Continuing with healthy living - waking up early, meditating, working out, etc.
Spend more time reading - for the past few months, I’ve neglected the amount of time spent reading - this is something I need to change in the coming month
That’s it…for now! ⏰
It’s been a really fun month! Summer was amazing and it was really nice to finally have a break. A very long break.
But with September coming up, that fun stops (not completely though!) - in the coming month, I’m going to be focusing a lot more on building cool sh*t! Let’s get it!
Anyways, I’m pumped for the month ahead, so until then, enjoy your September!
And feel free to subscribe to stay up to date with everything I do!
