About Me! 👋
Hey, I’m Yameen - a 14-year-old Innovator at The Knowledge Society (TKS), Army Cadet, Writer for The Startup and STEAM Student at RHHS.
I’m interested in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI’s) and Gene-Editing. Currently, I’m working on AI-related projects!
My goal in life is to have an impact. Life is short, so with the time you have, make a difference!
But, you didn’t come here to learn about my life goals, you came to learn about my month.
So here you go!
May! ☀️
It’s the end of May already?!
I can’t believe it, this month went by way too fast. 🏃💨
But it was still an amazing month! In May, I pitched a moonshot company to a group of amazing judges, explored the world’s biggest problems (WBPs), began a new article series and had my last regular TKS session of the year (😭)!
So before I take up too much of your time, welcome to my month of May!
Mindset of the Month 🧠
In life, we will all be faced with uncomfortable situations.
Whether it involves, stress, anger or hate.
But it is up to us to control how we react to those situations.
That is the philosophy of stoicism.
And simply put, it allows us to live better lives.
The reason is that it “maximizes positive emotions, reduces negative emotions and helps individuals to hone their virtues of character”.
And the best part, you can apply it to your life right now.
Here’s a saying from one of the most famous stoics of all time, Seneca:
“No person has the power to have everything they want, but it is in their power not to want what they don’t have, and to cheerfully put to good use what they do have.”
- Seneca
Many in today’s society spend their time being upset about the things they don’t have. Whether it’s that next position at work, big house or expensive car.
However, the stoic principle enforces the idea to consciously try not to suffer over what you are missing in life. Instead, show gratitude for what you have.
It is even said that “Seneca was known to practice days of poverty, where he would fast and wear unfashionable clothing, to remind himself that people do not require luxuries to live a good life”.
So, to wrap this idea up, there will be so many situations in life where you can’t control what happens. However, you can always control the way you react and respond to the event - for better or worse!
Project Helios Pitch 🌤
I left off on my April newsletter talking about a moonshot company I was working on (Project Helios).
For a general overview of our solution, we used two methods still widely in its research phases (but which have shown major potential in completely revolutionizing the carbon capture industry):
Using solar cells for carbon capture.
Using a Hybrid Na-CO2 System to help convert captured carbon into usable electricity.
For a more in-depth explanation, feel free to take a read at our Article, One-Pager, Website and Slide Deck!
Anyways, in May, I had the opportunity to pitch our company to a group of amazing judges.
I was super nervous leading up to the pitch but it was an amazing experience and allowed me to understand the aspects of my presentations that need to be improved.
You can check out the recording of my pitch + the pitches of other TKS innovators here (I’m at 18:00)!
52 / 52 Article Series 📄
This month, I also began a new article series called “52 /52” - “52 Weeks / 52 Mindsets”.
As you can probably tell, my goal for this series to write weekly articles for the next 52 weeks (1 year) detailing different mindsets that you can use and apply to your life.
I recently released an introductory article talking about the series more in-depth + my intentions for the next 52 weeks.
You can check it out over here.

Final Reg. TKS Session 😭
Can you believe it?
Regular sessions for TKS just came to an end.
And I don’t know what to say.
TKS has changed me so much in the one year I’ve been in the program.
I’ve learnt, failed and thrived more than before.
And although half of the year was spent online, it was such an amazing experience.
I’m super hyped for the years ahead!
(I might even be posting a “TKS Reflections” article soon 😉)
Finished my AI Create? ✨
This month, I was also able to complete my AI create - brain tumour detection w/ AI!
I built an AI model capable of detecting brain tumours even better than most trained doctors.
Although I first planned on creating an AI model which would predict landslides, I realized that there was a lot of data currently missing which made it nearly impossible to move forward with the project.
However, I am looking into more datasets that will allow me to start working on that model.
But brain tumour detection’s still cool!
What’s next (goals for June)? ✨
In June, school is coming to an end so I want to be intentional about not being lazy and instead, take advantage of all the extra free time!
Stay consistent with 52 / 52 series - Upload weekly (every Monday)
Begin a new focus - Currently looking into Gene-Editing and BCIs
Begin neuroscience 101 course - If I am to move forward with BCIs, I need to understand the brain in more detail
Continue with learning Spanish - I’ve tried to learn Spanish before but I’d always give up. That’s why for the next month, I want to stay consistent with my Spanish learning (30 mins - 1 hr daily)
Practice presentation skills - I will be joining a program very soon that will help me improve my public speaking skills and that’s why a major aspect I want to focus on in the next month(s) is practising and improving my public speaking skills.
Don’t get lazy! - School is coming to an end in June (finally 🥳) so I’ll have a lot of free time. Instead of getting lazy and doing nothing, try to find new hobbies, start new courses, etc.
That’s it…for now! ⏰
May was a very enjoyable month!
And as the weather gets better and better, I’ll take advantage of it!
For the next month, I will be focusing a lot on personal development and growth!
So until then…
enjoy your June (end of school)!!
(And feel free to subscribe to stay up to date with everything I do!)
